The holidays can be wildly fun, deeply sentimental and pleasantly surprising. They can also be melancholy, stressful and anxiety-producing, and a real test to one’s inner peace. Thankfully, there are many options in our Pearl District neighborhood where magic fingers can alleviate that stress and pamper us or someone who is even more stressed out than we.
Wait until you see what Hair M/W in the Metropolitan (1015 NW Lovejoy Street, (503) 715-2884) has to offer! Rows and rows of hair and skin products, candles and other gift items are beautifully wrapped for you. Full service grooming, hot-towel shaves and spa treatments for guys and all-things-hair and spa treatments for us. Their timely gift specials are available for your perusal on their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/hairmwsalon/events) – just click on the link Hair M/W Holiday Specials on Dec 01 post. Of course, they also offer gift certificates and if you’re on Santa’s Good list, they might also give you a beer or glass of wine while you shop!
Sheila Mc Coy, Owner/Skincare Expert Extraordinaire of L’Mu Salon (1136 NW Hoyt Street, #260, 503-224-8171) offers all things face and body….facials and peels suitable for your skin, waxing any and all of your bits, brow maintenance, make-up applications and lessons and lash extensions. She carries Dermalogica and PCA skin lines, Guinot products, lashes, True and Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics and, naturally, gift certificates for everything. The salon is located “behind the red door” on the corner of NW Hoyt and 12th across from Giorgio’s.
Teko (in Streetcar Lofts on NW Marshall between 11th and 12th, #7, 503-241-9009) offers some of the most luxurious treatments around, offering gift certificates for her services (including Microcurrent Technology facials and LED Phototherapy treatments) and the purchase of makeup and skin care lines, including Epionce and SkinCeuticals.
Don’t forget Hosmer Chiropractic (in the Metropolitan ) for massages, Kanani Pearl (where you can “feel embraced by the spirit of Aloha” in Bridgeport, 1111 NW Marshall Street, 503-242-5500) for a Volcanic Clay Purifying Wrap, an Island Espresso Mud Wrap, Hawaiian Hot Stone Therapy, Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy (a really deep tissue massage) or a Papaya Pineapple Polish for Two – all sound like great choices for our cold and wet winter months, Glow Salon in Tanner Place, 736 NW 11th, 503-224-8711) for all things hair, nails, facial, tanning (although I can’t personally recommend that!!), laser treatments and more.
I’m partial to French Cut Hair (NW 11th between Glisan and Flanders) for cut and color and Onyx (in Honeyman Hardware Lofts on NW Hoyt between Park and 9th) for nails but we also have Iolite (NW 11th between Marshall and Northrup) for hair and Oasis (NW Marshall between 11th and 12th) for nails.
And if the holidays become just too much, or you want a bracing New Year’s resolution, try Barre3 (in the Met on the corner of NW 10th and Marshall) where ballet barre meets yoga and pilates® for a real workout, or Circle Studio on NW 11th between Overton and Northrup) for Pilates and Gyrotonic exercise.
Now, about pampering those pets, you’ve got that down.
